Can mortar rounds create such huge explosions?

Granted, I've only ever seen 120mm HE live at Bovington, but those explosions do look awfully big and fiery for mortar rounds. Rocket artillery, perhaps?

Eventually all commercial flights in the USA will be like this, with the TSA fighting back hordes of wheelchaired grandmothers and teddy bear wielding 3 yr olds.
