8359says...I hate Rick Warren, but I appreciate Obama's perspective here. And Lowery is a giant of the civil rights movement who has been a strong advocate of LGBT issues, so Obama chose members of both the religious right and the religious left to be at his inauguration.
chilaxesays...Shocking. Does this mean Bush and John Bolton were wrong that the president only has an obligation to represent those who voted for him?
quantumushroomsays...That was verbose. I'd rather hear about the criminals in IL.

You better wait until you hear it from Hannity or Limbaugh.
Wouldn't want to hurt that purdy little head of yours by thinking.
dooglesays...Should put the following in the description:
rubadubsays...No Imperial Wizards will be speaking!? Shame...
volumptuoussays...I find it a bit odd that so many liberal blogs are losing their shit over this.
How many times has Obama told the world that he's a christian, and his christian values lead him in his judgements? The guy has been telling us for over two years that he is against same-sex marriage. Why would he have this POV other than because of his "faith" and wacked belief system?
Sure, B ain't no fundie, but this kind of stuff doesn't surprise me in the least.
dooglesays...Hold on -
is Obama Christian or not?
If he is, he's gotta get that message out there more, so people know and stop thinking he's Muslim.
He should get a pastor to deliver his inauguration address and make it known.
Otherwise, knowing he fosters and supports debate and disagreements, it may seem he's a Muslim who disagrees with the Christian faith, and supports that.
Wait - hold on again here...
charliemsays...Honestly....who gives a shit what his religion is ?
So long as he can govern without forcing his religious values on everyone else (Bush anyone ? ) then it shouldnt be of any concern.
BicycleRepairMansays...Would Obama invite someone on the other side of the "race-issue"? a KKK'er to speak perhaps? No. This is why fascistic, fundamentalist loonies like Rick Warren should not be given a forum at the presidents side. The gay question is not simply a "matter of opinion" it is not an issue where "your views is as good as my views" type thing, Its about totalitarianism and fascism, "I decide how YOU live your life" Its not just a difference of opinion, its a difference of fundamental values, which do you put first?, your nutty religious ideas and assumptions, or the freedom of other people. If its the first, you belong in Iran, if its the latter, you belong in the free parts of the world.
By the way, Sam Harris wipes the floor with Warren here:

rubadubsays...An Imperial Wizard is what the leader of the KKK is called... in case anyone didn't get that.
nadabusays...As often as i disagree with him, i am very relieved and proud to have this man be the next President of my country. A breath of fresh air...
quantumushroomsays...You better wait until you hear it from Hannity or Limbaugh.
Why comrade, even a blind man can see the filth and coruption these taxocrats wade through, it's up to their necks.
Or tune in to Chris 'Legthrill' Mathspews for more objective "journalism".
charliemsays...I hate to break it to you QM, but both the republifascists and the dem's are in it up to their necks.
Dont pretend the republican party is any better.
jwraysays...There's genius in the way he phrases that to effectively obfuscate his pro-gay-rights and pro-choice positions from half of the country. He's playing both sides of the coin.
