Minke whale underwater in Antarctica

Wonderfully clear footage of a Minke Whale underwater near Antarctica. The underwater footage is right at the beginning; the rest is footage of Minke's surfacing from the usual above water vantage point.

From Vimeo: "See the press release from Antarctica New Zealand for full details.
Initial testing by Regina Eisert of the University of Canterbury of a new underwater camera system I built. It is designed be left out to record continuous high-def underwater footage for a couple of weeks at a time to document wildlife in their natural habitat a non-intrusive manner.
This is believed to be the first time a close-up swim-by of a minke whale has been recorded in the Ross Sea.
There were initial problems with the system with one of the video encoders not liking the cold, but hopefully all the bugs have been sorted now for future deployments.
Thanks to Bob Zook for the suggestions on the camera housings."
