DerHasisttotsays...LOL.
shuacsays...Hey, maybe she's a big clown fan. And good for her.
Trancecoachsays...One of my favorite contemporary journalists, Matt Taibbi, has done a great job examining Bachmann's candidacy in this month's Rolling Stone.

That was a great article and I agree that Taibbi is one of the best journalists working today. His pieces about the CDO fueled Wall Street implosion are among the best I've read.
Interesting quote from that article: "In modern American politics, being the right kind of ignorant and entertainingly crazy is like having a big right hand in boxing; you've always got a puncher's chance."
Skeevesays...Excellent article. His description of her political style is awesome:
"Imagine Joe McCarthy dragging Cabinet members into hearings and demanding that they publicly disavow the works of Groucho Marx, and you get a rough idea of the general style of Bachmannian politics."

Unfortunately, his editor may have thrown him under the bus some.

Trancecoachsays...It appears unintentional, if that's true. The editor they quote is from City Pages, the F comment and stuff. RS' editor says he deleted to save space which is more like bumping a guy accidentally onto the tracks just before oncoming train.

lantern53says...Y'all forgive Obama for all his gaffs, right?
Bachmann has a postdoctoral degree in tax law, so she's no slacker.

heropsychosays...Actually, I don't really care that her or her staff confused Gacy for John Wayne, although admittedly it's pretty funny. I just get sick of the repeated insistence of "real American" sentiment that the middle of the country, John Wayne, etc. is "real America", and the rest is apparently "fictional" America. Just reinforces that anyone who disagrees with you must be un-American/Socialist/Nazis/etc.
