The Obama campaign has put out this response:

"On a day when major news organizations across the country are taking Senator McCain to task for a steady stream of false, negative attacks, his campaign has launched yet another. Or, as some might say, ‘Oops! He did it again.’"

Definitely needs a lies tag added.

I thought McCain was above this sort of thing? I guess you never can say never when you want the presidency so bad.

I asked myself the question 'what is the effect of the McCain ads?' and the answer would seem to me to be 'to drive more voters into the Obama camp'

Now the question is, 'is this the INTENT of the McCain ads?'

These smear ads are just pathetic, and will likely hurt McCain in the long run. I'm not sure if I want to upvote, since there are prolly hayseeds that would believe this nonsense =P

Is it not a sign of defeat when the only ads he seems to run are those that outright attack the opposition rather than saying what good he intends to do?

Also, that's a pretty bloody pathetic attempt to link Obama with Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears.

McCain Press person: "Oooh, I've got it! Obama is famous and popular... and, erm... so are Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears"
McCain other person: "OK and where are you going with this, other than to say that many more people know and like Obama than McCain"
MPP: "No, no, I've got a point... I think, hang on, oooh, no wait, I do. Look, they're wastes of space."
MOP: "Who, the people who like him?"
MPP: "What? No, Spears and Hilton, they're complete wastes of space, and they couldn't run the country"
MOP: "Um, no, they couldn't but I don't think they're running"
MPP: "No, but, see, they're famous and they would be crap at running the country, so, you know, Obama is famous... so, he... would, be... um, crap at running the country. Actually, now I say that out loud it doesn't really hold water"
MOP: "No, wait, that's just the sort of nonsensical bullshit I think some idiots just might lap up. Yeah, seeing as we can't actually fight him on any logical ground, let's just associate him with stupid airheads, BRILLIANT!"
MPP: "Um, Can I not put my name to this one, I kinda think it's ridiculous now?"
MOP: "No, you're name is on it all the way to the top, all the way to pretty boy McCain baby."
MPP: "Did you just call McCain pretty?"
MOP: "Shuddup lacky"
