Don't referees make a lot of money?

That idiot basketball player should be banned from playing sports for the rest of his life. That was totally uncalled for.

Interesting tidbit: In soccer (maybe other sports, but I only ref soccer), the referee is considered part of the field. So, theoretically, the ball can bounce off the ref and into the goal and it should be counted. Taking it to the extreme, a ref once felt so bad for a losing team that he stole the ball, dribbled down the field, shot and scored a goal, then counted it.

Getting whacked around is part of the job though. At least, from the ball.
