Inhuman Hormel Pig Farmers Torturing Mother Pigs and Piglets

From PETA:

For more than three months, PETA went undercover at an Iowa pig factory farm, which supplies piglets who are raised and killed for Hormel products. PETA found rampant cruelty to animals - committed by workers and supervisors. The farm changed ownership and management during PETA's investigation, but that made no difference to the animals who were born and confined there: Abuse and neglect were widespread during PETA's entire investigation.

The following are just some of the abuses that were documented:

* • A supervisor shoved a cane into a sow's vagina, struck her on the back about 17 times, and then struck another sow.
* • Multiple pigs were beaten with metal gate rods, and lacerations were found on more than 30 sows - which is probably evidence of more abuse.
* • A worker hit a young pig in the face four times with the edge of a herding board, and investigators witnessed dozens of similar incidents involving this worker and 11 other workers.
* • Two men - including a supervisor - were witnessed jabbing clothespins into pigs' eyes and faces. A supervisor also poked two animals in the eyes with his fingers.
* • A supervisor kicked a young pig in the face, abdomen, and genitals to make her move and told PETA's investigator, "You gotta beat on the bitch. Make her cry."
* • A worker who weighed an estimated 315 lbs. punched a sow on the back three times and said that he sat on a sow's head.
* • An employee sprayed blue paint into the nostrils and face of a sow for over 30 seconds.

Among other horrendous acts, in addition to the above, workers ram rods into pig rectums, violently and repeatedly kick them in the stomach, and they even raise baby piglets over their head by the back legs and slam them head first into the floor. This doesn't kill the piglets; they just lay suffering, writhing in agonizing pain in a pile of other dying piglets.

Yes, they are animals. Yes, we eat them and enjoy doing so. What disturbs me most about this video, even more than what the workers actually do, is how and why they do it. They really appear to get off on the prolonged torture and pain they unnecessarily inflict.

That....was really disturbing. Those guys should be beaten with rods and sprayed in the face.

But I love meat guys. I'll support insane regulation on the industry, I'll even pay higher prices for meat, but you just can't make a vegetarian out of me.

So WTF is this about 'if you eat pork products you support this.' Way to lose any sympathy you gained with greater population. Out the company responsible; out the government for lack of regulation, and ensure that anyone who does this is fined out of existence. But we're a meat eating species, get over it. Let's prevent cruelty and suffering as much as possible, but at the end of the day it's death and nom nom nom bacon.

I agree completely this is horrible... and incredibly disturbing...

Anyone think while watching that (I admit i couldn't finish) how these 'men' go home and treat their wives?... Long way from being a psychologist but there seems to be a LOT Of underlying issues with these guys...

Anyway back to task... I for one will absolutly pass this along to everyone i can... and do my very little part to ensure Hormel does something about it... in the end the pocket book is the ONLY thing that can make change happen.

But the problem is that this is hardly some sort of isolated case. Mistreatment of animals in animal industries is widespread and common. It isn't just about the steak on your plate or your glass of milk, it's about the leather shoes people wear, their fur coats, their wool caps and the circuses they attend. This happens every day, and an industry where the animals are treated well is exception, not rule.

Honestly, the amount of videos like these that I've seen suggest that this type of abuse is nothing more than a mere coping mechanism for the workers of an industry that sees more death than the average soldier on the frontline. As long as we kill and incarcerate animals for food, clothes or any other purpose, this will go on.
