Does the invocation not work because I fixed the embed, and @siftbot knows this automatically?

Yes. Fixing the embed tells siftbot that you fixed the embed so it is no longer considered dead.

(One would have to be pretty masochistic to fix a dead video by pasting in another dead video's embed code. That's sick. Yuck.)
