OK, so it require loads of crap, but it looks fun enough to try.

My only question is - if you're only going to use a crappy $20 digital camera, aren't you going to get horrible pictures of the perpetrator you're trying to "catch" in the first place?

Good luck actually trying to make something like that without any prior knowledge of electronics though.

Like the comment says, I've always wondered why businesses keep installing crappy low res cameras that reduce almost everything they see to an indistinguishable blob. Yes your honor, the defendant clearly looks just like the fuzzy black and white blur we see in the camera footage.
