Hasn't anyone told him also that the US Military already has it's own Future Combat System initiative that also covers the ordinary infantry man?

While it looks woefully inadequate for protection around the neck, I'm sure he can easily modify the design to include a neck shield similar to what the bomb squads use.

The whole point of this guy doing it on his own was to prove that determination and ingenuity can overcome a woefully small budget of around $2000 USD. Hello multi-billion-dollar infantry armor that still isn't in full deployment.

Anyway, I don't deny the guy's crazy for thinking that suit's going to see much beyond what's seen in news clips, but I do applaud him for trying. I'm assuming, of course, that he's filed multiple patents on the materials and design, or he'd be pretty S.O.L. once knock-offs start appearing for this year's Halloween!

The chances of hitting the neck are pretty slim, when under fire, you'll crouch and point your rifle, which will pretty much cover that area anyways, its much more crucial to have full mobility for your head.

Nice features, but ahh.... where do they carry the ammunition?

edit: ohh, and the water/food, sleeping gear, entrenching tool... Oh that's right, the US army doesn't like taking and holding an area - they come home in the evening.

Yeah there isn't a suit in the world other than some of the bomb techs gear that can handle small stuff but you will still lose your fingers and the shock wave can still cause serious internal injury's. The biggest killer in a bomb blast is the shrapnel then the shock wave causing hydro shock. The water and fluids pass the shock waves at different rates than others. So your liver is moving faster than the connective tissue and you have some serious internal bleeding not to mention your brain becomes compressed and then springs back causing bruising and an increase in pressure. The Halo 2 suits look great but they are unrealistic. Watch for more flying cars before you see these in an army any time soon.

Yeah and Bikeman is right unless its an sniper shooting at stationary target the neck hit isnt likely. In halo maybe, real life no. Yeah try throwing a ruck sack over that and carying the 125 lbs of beans and bullets for 3 days yeah its not happening.

And farhad shouldering a rifle with a flack jacket (with plates) and tac vest on isnt that easy but you manage. Running with it on is bitch too but you manage.
