Full Obama Inaugural Address 2009/01/20

Obama addresses US citizens moments after being sworn in office.

he just won the war on terrorism! damn. he simply put forth that ideals can beat ideals. "you cannot outlast us", and defined "us"... not a challenge, a statement.

now, just stop the violence and it's all over. that was quick, and im serious.

^ Technically speaking I could have also sifted the 1st part when it was uploaded on YT (or either of the beginning clips of the speech that were available minutes after it ended, thus creating the post half an hour earlier) - but I chose to wait until the full version was available. Don't get me wrong - I don't like the situation, and I'm not saying you're 101% in the wrong here - I think we should wait for more opinions from the side.

The speech was truly awe-inspiring though.

Aussie here. Very well crafted and entertaining speech:

So what do you Americans expect from your administration, and from the general future after this speech?

You know what? I like Obama. I think he's a great speaker and he no doubt inspires a lot of people. I really hope he kick ass! But...

The very "Hope" that he has given people can turn to despair very quickly if he does not deliver on the things he says. I'm an aussie but I think the Americans as a people are a resilient people. My concern is that if he doesn't deliver it could break their spirit. That would be bad for everyone.

Kick ass Obama!!!

Absolutely. There were plenty of very pointed comments there but there was also plenty of opportunity. An invitation to peace.

He's got a hell of a lot of promises to live up to.

Great speech.

If he embraces liberal policies, it won't work. He's already said he will bankrupt the coal industry and cause electric rates to skyrocket.

Great future!

Indeed it may be. Maybe the US - as a whole - will start to learn how to conserve energy and deal with realistic energy and gas prices as the rest of the world has for the past decades. If that means that you personally can't leave a TV running in every room of your house, you'll just be a little british and keep a stiff upper lip.
