13439says...Ouch. At least it was a tire and so the impact wasn't all at one point.
I was behind a dumptruck once on the highway and a boulder the size of my fist bounced out of the back of it when it hit a small bump. Hit my windshield just at the base. A foot higher and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be here today.

blutruthsays...The * wheels tag seems especially appropriate here.
antsays...Scary!
Sagemindsays...I had a sheet of plexi-glass flying out of the back of a pick up truck come at me once. We were driving about 110 kms/h on the highway and the air just got under the 4 x 8 sheet and picked it up. It flew up about 30 feet (was hard to tell) and came flying straight at us. I don't know how but I had to guess the area of impact as it came down at our windshield. Don't know how but managed to break at the right time and it hit the front of the car and then shattered into pieces everywhere, all around us.
By the time we stopped, the adrenalin was on, we were in shock - we just sat there. And no one else stopped. The truck it flew out of never even knew he lost it and kept on going. We sat there for about fifteen minutes until the adrenalin subsided and then just pulled out and carried on. (With cuts to the front and underside of the front bumper).
... and it happened in 1/10 of a second.
