Conor McGregor shows you the true definition of irony

The Irish went from loving him for his skill to despising him for his attitude.

I know the trash talk is part of the confidence that's almost a pre-requisite for getting to that level of a combative sport, but when we have examples like Katie Tailor to show you can excel and still be a decent human being it just rubs in how much of an asshole McGregor is.

Nice to see him knocked down a few pegs.

Wait, Katie Taylor is a boxer, why mention her under an MMA video?

I mean there is a lot of trash talking in boxing too, but boxing can be a reasonably sane competition, this MMA stuff is just imposibly stupid. If they could do what they pretend to be able to do, half of them would be dead after a fight. Either they are doing it wrong or its all just a show of pretense. No point watching that. A bit like being a "motor racing fan" just for the occasional bad crash.

Dont get me wrong you have to train hard and have some skill to do MMA (or "wrestling") it just is not a good competition format, its a show. Movie fights can be more fun.

There's nothing sane about boxing. Strapping giant gloves to your hands and punching each other in the head doesn't sound reasonably sane to me.

There's a misconception that gloves make fights safer. The purpose of gloves is to allow a fighter to punch harder without breaking their hands. MMA originally didn't use gloves, but to get athletic certification in most states they had to give in and use gloves.

Getting knocked silly, pausing the fight and giving a fighter 10 seconds to recover so they can get punched in the head more is far worse and more dangerous to a fighter's health than letting the fight continue to a KO, although in MMA, the ref should stop the fight when a fighter is not capable of defending themself.
