Noam Chomsky and Peter Singer on Abortion
>> ^rougy:
Anti-abortion movements render women to second-class status.
Conservatives dig that kind of thing.
Abortion renders 500,000 women dead every year.
Who would dig a thing like that?

Government is great at failing, get used to it. It is why the founder fathers wanted it as small as possible.
"Dictatorship naturally arises out of democracy, and the most aggravated form of tyranny and slavery out of the most extreme liberty."
-Plato
WAIT! I thought only the Republicans failed! I thought only the Republican officials were to blame for abandoning the people of the Gulf Coast! Are you implying that all government can be faulty?!?!? I was promised hope and change...
Now that my sarcasm has run its course, let me applaud you for a very wise and poignant comment.
Prop 8 - The Musical with Jack Black

The issue is not whether or not homosexuality is right or wrong. The issue is, does a majority have the right restrict the rights and freedoms of a minority?
!!!Exactly right!!!! So lets have the liberty of the minority (right to marry) override the liberty of all (right to vote and be counted)...wait a second...

She USED to be a lesbian, now look at her.
- Because "coming out" is about accepting yourself and embracing your nature. "Becoming straight" is about denying your true self to conform to flat earth insanity.
So if a person is "homo-curious" and decides that they are homosexual, that's "embracing nature," but if at some point that person decides that they prefer to be heterosexual, that's "insanity"?
She USED to be a lesbian, now look at her.
I wish to ask a question that arose from reading various comments without promoting this style of service:
How come there is rejoicing and a welcome sense of liberty when an individual decides to become gay, but there is outrage when a homosexual decides that they want to be straight?

"It's not the spirit of Halloween, it's the spirit of violence!"
Does Keith know what Halloween is about?
I guess Keith has never seen any of the 20 Halloween movies, or any of the other countless horror films that revolve around this holiday.
Maybe he's got it confused with Arbor Day.

That sounds very painful, and it saddens me to hear that you had this experience.

Being gay myself I can honestly say the ignorance these people put into the minds of children is very disturbing, I've had 5 yr. olds tell me I going to hell for being a fagot. Guess I should thank them for opening my eyes to my sinful ways and saving my soul. Fucking religious fuck tards.
NO on proposition H8
Nordich,
I apologize for misinterpreting your statement. Some of the language seems aggressive/violent. But if you intend your message to be non-violent, so be it.
I have been disturbed by the reports of vandalism against people's private property that are displaying "yes on 8" signs. Such vandalism has included spray painting garage doors, cars, and breaking car windows. I simply cannot reconcile the seemingly opposing sides of (1) urging tolerance for one side yet at the same time (2) violently disallowing any voice of opposition.
The issue is up for vote and both sides must be allowed to present their arguments for or against prop 8, and then whatever happens the voice of the people must be respected.
NO on proposition H8
Yes. I love using violence to promote tolerance. It really drives the point home.

Prop 8 spokesman says defeating gays like defeating Hitler
I'm not agreeing with what this gentleman said, or taking sides. I simply want to throw a question out there that entered into my mind while watching this and considering the Prop 8 debate.
Do many homosexuals conclude much of their personal identity of who they are as persons from their sexuality? Isn't sexuality just one of the physical functions of a human being? It's almost like someone proudly proclaiming that they are a "masticater." So regardless of what sexual preference one has, isn't it a bit alarming that so much attention is given to sexuality? and more so, that so much self worth comes from sexuality? Is it healthy to be in a society that is driven by people (again, hetero, or homosexual) that elevate one basic human action above all others?
Aren't people made up of so much more than just sexuality? Shouldn't one's identity be derived from so much more than simply one's sexuality?
In the meantime, I'm a masticater. I chew food.
