Football: This American Gets It

David Mitchell talks about References

He couldn't be more wrong about teenagers, though, as in their minds they are always right and anyone who disagrees is personally insulting them. This is the time where they learn to debate, which is why they'll keep on arguing their points ad nauseum, regardless of how wrong they are or how absurd their position is. When he has kids, this'll be some revelation for him

Does the world need nuclear energy? - TED Debate

Kreegath says...

I hope my country will take to nuclear as the alternative to coal and oil until a power source is invented that can surpass it. Because I don't think solar or water can nor will be able to produce nearly close to the amount of usable energy of a nuclear plant. And compared to the (in my mind) completely safe and environmentally clean energy of nuclear power; wind, water and solar do have a negative effect on the wildlife.

Sweden-Paraguay 2006 was one of the most awesome sports experiences in my life, and that game ended 1-0, and it's a fun game to look into even though it's not really relevant to this world cup.

I feel sorry for people who can't enjoy a game where the players don't score a goal every other minute, because football to me is highly enjoyable for the strategy involved, the individual players' skill and the magnificent plays that are preformed in each game. To dismiss it as an exercise in boredom is doing yourself a disservice. Not that I think this video does that, because I don't. Instead, it does seem like the video makes fun of American preconceptions of the game.

"Of the 45 national FIFA affiliates in which English is an official or primary language, 42 use football in their organizations official name (only Canada, Samoa and the United States use soccer)."

Does the world need nuclear energy? - TED Debate

Fear is a great motivator. People always cite Chernobyl, which was terrible but not a disaster. Only 31 people died and it left 20 miles of land inhabitable (also health care issues arose afterward). More people die daily from auto accidents. Also, Chernobyl's plant designs were old.
Three Mile Island is another one cited. But there's never been any evidence to prove any member of the public was harmed by the incident.
From what little I've read about nuke power is that it's extremely safe and gives a realistically reliable output of energy.

There is still areas in Sweden where you can't pick blueberries because of the high radiation from the Chernobyl fallout. I'm not taking a stance on the nuclear power debate, just saying that Chernobyl was a much bigger disaster than the people who died in the actual power plant.

As for the debate in this video, it seemed like the one part was arguing for the situation we have, with nuclear power being the most viable option for large scale needs, while the other side argued for a situation that we may have in the future while propagating fear and suspicion against the other side. But people have such deeply rooted bias and preconceptions about this issue that the vast majority will only listen to the side that argues and reassures their standing opinion, and reject the opposition outright.

Vuvuzelas: the tiny plastic horn "ruining" the 2010 World Cu

If South Africa can't hold the games properly then they shouldn't apply to do so. It's not like they were forced into it. This disturbance is more than just a minor annoyance, especially the screaming child horns.
And in regards to the relocation of people, that's also on South Africa's head. They felt they wanted to give off a more pleasing scenery for the rest of the world.

I'm way too old for that stuff
But this should prove to be an interesting matchup, as North Korea isn't exactly known for their football prowess. Not sure whether or not their wildcard status is to their advantade or if it'll be to their detriment. But as this is like their second world cup ever, who knows how long it'll be until we get to see them play again?

It seems that just about any and every video nowadays is subjected to this borderline paranoid scepticism. Why is it so hard for people to believe that this could be real? Why is it so difficult to accept that?

Award more power points for reaching higher star levels? (Sift Talk Post)

Kreegath says...

I say we give someone infinite powerpoints, a million dollars in cash and prominent real estate on the front page when they hit ruby, because we're not sifting stuff on this site to share videos but to get awarded.

What are these f*cking iguanas doing on my coffee table?

I disagree. He's so bad that he's actually transcended good acting and has reached a plane that's categorically more entertaining than what the majority of good actors can produce!

Now when his films are playing, I'm just going to the cinema to see a Nic Cage flick. Because seeing him flipping out and being completely outrageous on screen is just hilarious to me
