This Kid Needs To Die!!!!!

swampgirl says...

Lips, just what is posting this here supposed to do? Since we don't have his moronic parents' phone number, posting this here serves nothing. You're just wanting to enrage us. That website link doesn't even work. Go back to LiveLeak and report abuse.

Don't post shit like this here again.

Janeane Garofalo: Republicans Aren't Well-Adjusted

rougy says...

I hate to say it, but she pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I talked to a guy last night who kept bragging about being a Republican, but when I finally asked him why, he couldn't explain himself. Not a bad fellow, but not very bright.

A local politician was interviewed in our paper and talked about how glad she was that a certain bill didn't get passed recently. It had something to do with allowing gay people to marry, and she bragged that she would have voted against it because she considered it a threat to the family.

I sent her an email (pretty pissed and not very tactful) and called her a bigot. She tracked down my unlisted home phone number and called me up to tell me, among other things, that America was based on the Bible and gay people didn't need to get married anyway.

Most of red-state America is like that.

Dubai goes from Booming to Bust Almost Overnight

Ryjkyj says...

Wow danny,

Let me clarify:

Rich americans (and others) are the ones vacationing in dubai and investing in the properties there. The whole thing just seems like a wasteful overindulgence to me. I'm happy that the people there have jobs and that it helps their economy but if I know rich developers(and I'm a construction manager in NYC), they're not paying very much.

It seems like you're railing me for my comments but then going on to list a bunch of negatives about the country? Not sure I follow the logic there.

PS: I realize that you're probably exposed to the worst of my culture every day but I'm kind of offended by your overgeneralization. I'm a hard-working stiff like most of the rest of the world, only with the advantages afforded me by being a US citizen. I can't remember the last time I took a vacation and I couldn't even afford a gun. Oh, and I don't dance.

If I judge solely by your comment, it would appear to me that the reason the rest of the world hates america is ignorance. There are real people here you know.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Couldn't agree more. Screw Dubai and everone who vacations in Dubai.

I can't understand sentiments like this. Probably cowboy americans firing their guns into the air and dancing a jig. This is why the world hates you. You dislike something because it seems to show prosperity to a greater degree than your own. You hate a people because they look like some people who once hurt you.
----
On another note - dubai is a good idea poorly executed. Yes they need a good source of income once the oil is gone. But seriously, a world-wide tourist attraction will not happen in a highly religious, highly divercially intolerant, highly alcohol-free country/capital. And their punishments for what they percieve as crime?
The knowledge of dubai i have comes from saudi arabians who live now in england, they're extremely good friends of mine. The stuff they tell me is outrageous. Young men and women (like 18-25) are not allowed to go and talk to each other in a social setting. They have to rely on stuff like "dropping pieces of paper with their phone numbers on the floor" when a group of guys spy a group of girls on the other side of the mall. If the authorities suspect any of this behaviour, they get in serious trouble.
I've been told how the law enforcement around dubai go around "picking up" random foreigners (white women/men) and taking them to the square where corporal punishment is carried out and making them watch, then letting them go and basically saying "remember what you saw".
That's not even half of the stuff i've heard but this post is getting long.
World wide tourist attraction to provide them with the money oil will not forever provide? Not unless things change. But i'm not an authority here, i only pass on information provided to me by people who grew up there.

Lieberman Must Go Once and for All

NetRunner says...

From YT: http://liebermanmustgo.com

Joe Lieberman has launched consistent, deeply partisan attacks on President-elect Barack Obama, questioning his patriotism and fitness to lead. While Lieberman campaigned for John McCain and spoke on his behalf at the Republican National Convention, he spread some of the GOP's nastiest smears. Think Progress has provided thorough evidence of Lieberman's partisan politics. Lieberman should not be allowed to have subpoena power to investigate the Obama administration as chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. In fact, he should not be allowed to remain chairman of this or any other committee.

Lieberman has proven he cannot be trusted to hold a high rank within the Democratic caucus. That is why we launched Lieberman Must Go last summer, a campaign that caught Congress' attention when we delivered a petition with over 43,000 signatures. Now, we ask you to help us escalate the pressure by contacting members of the Senate Democratic Steering Committee. Tell them to strip Lieberman of his chairmanship in the Democratic caucus.

We have included a sample script and phone numbers below for you to use, and we ask that you be polite when you explain why Lieberman Must Go.

Here is a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy......

Ain't got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy
The land lord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don't worry, be happy
Lood at me I am happy
Don't worry, be happy
Here I give you my phone number
When you worry call me
I make you happy
Don't worry, be happy
Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style
Ain't got not girl to make you smile
But don't worry be happy
Cause when you worry
Your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don't worry, be happy (now).....

There is this little song I wrote
I hope you learn it note for note
Like good little children
Don't worry, be happy
Listen to what I say
In your life expect some trouble
But when you worry
You make it double
Don't worry, be happy......
Don't worry don't do it, be happy
Put a smile on your face
Don't bring everybody down like this
Don't worry, it will soon past
Whatever it is
Don't worry, be happy

"Obama Is An Arab"-Says McCain Volunteer In Letters

bareboards says...

I am deeply disturbed at the fact that they are getting her to give her name, hometown, and attempted to get her phone number -- and then posted the video on YouTube. It seems like they are deliberately trying to get this woman inundated with hate mail.

She's ignorant and fearful and not very smart. And she doesn't deserve being hounded by every yahoo who gets mad at her and her views.

This is the tyranny of the internet.

I hope and pray this poor woman isn't being attacked. I can just imagine her not understanding why all these people are calling her and sending her hate mail. Sitting at home, clueless.

These young people should be ashamed of themselves. They could easily have bleeped out the details before posting.

"Obama Is An Arab"-Says McCain Volunteer In Letters

Xax says...

"Barack Obama's never been a Muslim... he's a Christian. His father was a Muslim, but he's a Christian."

"Yeah, but he's still got Muslim in him!"

Just like if you're born in America, you're Christian, right? I swear to God, half of McCain's supporters don't know the difference between religion and ethnicity, or Arabs and Muslims, or other scary-sounding middle-eastern words.

I'd love it if someone could find this lady's phone number for me; I have a charity that badly needs a donation from her. That is, if she has any left from all the Egyptian princes she's given money to.

Ticketmaster, what a f----in’ ripoff! (Blog Entry by firefly)

13174 says...

Ticketmaster screws you coming and going!!!
I purchased tickets for a concert online at Ticketmaster.com. When the transaction was complete, offers for additional services popped up. I was very VERY careful to decline any offers for additional goods and/or services. A few weeks after my purchase, I saw a $9 charge on my debit card, the same card I'd used to purchase my tickets. Calling the phone number provided on this "electronic" debit, I was told that I'd opted "in" for the Entertainment Rewards online coupon membership which would automatically debit my account $9 a month. Knowing full well I'd declined any further offers, I requested that my membership be withdrawn. I was assured that my membership was canceled and was given a confirmation number as assurance. I was also told my refund would be processed in a week to 10 days.

I did receive an email confirming my membership cancellation, but I have not yet seen the refund. I tried to call the toll free number again this morning to determine the status of my refund. An advertisement for a phone service was all I received and then the line was disconnected. Don't know if it's outside of their business hours or not. I will try again.

In researching this issue online, its been found that the same company that owns the Entertainment Rewards coupon book/website also owns Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster is providing all of its customer's personal financial information to its sister company. This is a scam that has been going on for years and nothing has been done to put a stop to it. See further testimonials at the following link:

http://consumerist.com/consumer/scam-artists/scam-alert-entertainment-rewards-and-ticketmaster-149041.php

I'd truly like to call for a boycott of events that only allow ticket purchase through Ticketmaster. Knowing this is probably asking too much when the event is one we can't seem to miss, I'd just like to warn you to protect yourself. Simply "opting out" to online offers following a Ticketmaster.com purchase will not protect you. My first suggestion is to buy the tickets directly from the venue whenever possible. While this isn't always practical or convenient, it does save the 24%+ upcharge Ticketmaster receives for its services. Another option, several retail locations also sell tickets. Again, this may not be practical or convenient. In the end, simply avoid purchasing at Ticketmaster.com if at all possible. I'd suggest any transactions directly with Ticketmaster happen over the phone and everyone be very specific in making sure their personal information does not go any further.

There is talk of a class action law suit and personally, I'd love nothing more than to see Ticketmaster go under, but that's probably wishful thinking on my part!

and by the way, SHINEDOWN ROCKED!!!!!!!!

On one more note, if your child sells the Entertainment Rewards coupon books for school, this is the same company. Please don't ask me to buy one!

4 year old calls 911 for math help

LittleRed says...

1) If he's only 4, he's not going to have homework of any kind, let alone math homework. See this article on national age for children entering kindergarten. Thirty-nine states will not allow your child into kindergarten unless they turn five less than a month and a half into the school year. The likelihood of math homework when the teacher is still trying to teach some kids how to count is slim to none. The Flagstaff school district suggests you teach your child to count to ten before s/he starts kindergarten. And that's only a suggestion. To most parents, reading and writing come before math, because math is easier to learn. That's why you'll see kids struggling to write their name before they know what 4+5 is. They certainly wouldn't be working with two-digit numbers like 16.

2) Even if everyone in this particular class knew how to count before the school year started, the units in kindergarten (at least the ones in my school) didn't have math specific homework. The closest thing I can think of is when we went through the money unit, and we had to make change with what we had. I think we had worksheets with little cutouts of coins and we had to glue or tape on the page the combination that equaled X amount as homework.

3) The concept of subtraction is taught long, long after addition has been mastered. The concept of adding negative numbers, or "take-aways" is usually a difficult one for kids to grasp. No four-year-old, unless they are in an advanced after-school tutoring program or homeschooled, is going to be doing subtraction homework.

4) A cell phone number would've been relatively useless in this case, as there is obviously someone else in the house. The dispatcher says something about "listen to your mom," and the kid on the phone doesn't correct him. If you've ever babysat a four-year-old, you know they love to correct the slightest mistakes. If it wasn't his mother, I'm sure he would've let everyone know.

And there's no need to be condescending just because you disagree. No one's miserable for calling "fake" on a video. Jeez. Calm down.

>> ^karkarlee:
I could count, add and subtract a bit ( simple things, like 4+5 and 19-1 ) and was grasping reading and writing when I was four. I did it alone most of the time, because I myself wanted to. I would watch TV shows and learned from that.. I also knew to call 911 if something bad happened or someone was hurt or needed help badly.
This could just as likely be real. If it is, it's not the kid's fault that his parents didn't tell him their cellphone number as well. ( I knew my home phone by the time I was five. )
The child's mind doesn't work like an adult one, kk? Children and adults alike are diverse in all ways: height, hair color, race, development, intelligence, maturity, on and on. Stop sticking everything in a box, you're just making yourself miserable.

Payback says...

IT'S A TRAP!

Those "give us your cell phone number" ads are not from the real company. They are fake, they are exactly like those "hot sexy chat and horoscope readings"

You are signing up for a continuous barrage of non-stop pay-to-recieve text messages charged to your cell bill like a call to a 900 number. It's a scam. Like those "Male Enlargement Pills" tv ads that are being prosecuted down in the States right now.

>> ^choggie:
man to man implies there be 2 present-fuck you...(isn't this how we began this?)
If and when, motherfucker, you wish t o have a real conversation, not your lynching, but am a nigger that will do till then....one-ups-man-shit. your go.....as in E

Also, if you can believe this, at one time I trusted choggie enough to give him my phone number. (This was a while a go.) Anyway, less than 10 minutes ago he called me to fuck with me. He asked if I knew he got banned, and I told him that it was me who told dag. Then he said he knew it was me and then says some insane rambly shit about me not taking his phone calls and hangs up. So I called him back and told him never to call me again. He said, "Fine, I'm losing your num..." and then I hung up on him.

The Prius Paradox - Hybrid Pollution

Structure says...

CNW Marketing Research's Hummer advert/report has some pretty ridiculous distortions and assumptions in it. It assumes that 85% of "total lifetime energy use" of a vehicle is in manufacturing when scientific studies show 85% is in driving. It lies and says hybrid batteries aren't recycled when they are (some even have phone numbers on them to call for recycling instructions). Two models of Scion with nearly identical stats are in the report and are shown as drastically different. It assumes a Hummer H1 lasts 35 years and a Prius lasts 12 years without backing up their claim.

Also, this seems like a recycled talking point. Oil company "marketing research" groups had a similar argument against electric cars: Because you plug your electric car in at home, you're just moving the CO2 production to the powerplant with no benefit to the environment. But a large powerplant producing electricity wholesale is far more efficient then each car's engine. Plus the power source for your home could eventually be something non-pollutive like solar panels. And then there's the CO2 produced transporting the gas to each gas station.

I had a couple of Kyocera units a few years ago that couldn't handle going through options in menus... The lag was pretty bad, and punching in a phone number involved practically 2 seconds in delay.

Basically any phone that has any trouble navigating through menus is a piece of shit.

My new Samsung U410 is very nice and can process number commands with sound&display almost in real-time. The only thing it doesn't handle really well is the motion blur on the camera, which my Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz system with an old graphics card can't even handle.
