Homeless Hero Sacrifies

Lawdeedaw says...

newtboy, death has long not been considered snuff if it newsworthy, historic or artful. Or haven't you seen the millions of fucking police and troops killing people on the sift? They are allowed because they are "unexpected" and newsworthy. In fact that is exactly what @lucky760 told me back then. Guess he was wrong back then eh?

Or how about when I posted the video of mother nature being a powerful, awe inspiring motherfucker? There was definitely death in this vein there. I was told it was fine, because it showed the artistic power of mother-nature. That came from the mods and nearly everyone else. A few did argue their point, "But, but...it shows someone dying..."

Or how about the world's ten greatest tragedies that showed a fighter pilot drown with his jet? Oh the video was historically based, but that particular pilot's death was in no way historical at all. Yet it was defended and remained.

Honestly, if you have no clue what you are talking about, then shut up. You can argue the homeless saving people does not matter (not newsworthy,) you could argue that I could have edited it, but don't pull that bullshit "just because both die from gunshots."

In my opinion this is the definition of newsworthy. More of this needs shown to the world so they fucking have to eat the truth--that heroes can be poor street men. This is art in a very sad way. Like a fucking painting of a great man standing, defending a wall against a force much larger than his own. This is fucking news because no one expects it and it stuns people awake.

I'm sorry, but by what insane definition or theory do you NOT consider this *snuff?!? It is the literal definition of the word, and is in fact double snuff as it seems both the 'hero' and the kidnapper are killed. Just because you feel the one death was 'heroic', and the other totally justified, does not make it any less a snuff film.
Good on the homeless man for saving the woman.
Bad on @Lawdeedaw for posting snuff.

Bill Maher: Richard Dawkins – Regressive Leftists

xxovercastxx says...

This is just another part of the hypersensitivity movement

Racism does only apply to racial transgressions, that's why 'race' is the root of the word.

In the same vein, every wrongful killing is now called murder even if not premeditated and sometimes even if not intentional. Hell, it even applies to fish.

People who do this seem to feel more righteous and I guess they think that will help their cause, but all they're really doing is preventing proper conversations about difficult/complicated subjects from occurring by stripping the meaning from the words we use to talk about them.

Firstly, he hasn't looked up the definition of racism, it doesn't just apply to 'race'.

How a Retractable Ballpoint Pen Works

oblio70 says...

"I" think they handled this material excellently, however pedantic. Myself, I am in the process of compiling such research for a Vlogcast of my own which resides in a similar vein, to be called "Wicked Lost Technology". I plan to look at inventions that were once cutting edge, yet today are all but forgotten. These item still offer great inspiration for us today from a mechanical perspective and should not be forgotten.

The thoroughness of the Engineeringguy in this video should not be overlooked. He/they get(s) my applaud!

Isaac Caldiero's Epic Ascent of Mt. Midoriyama

rancor says...

What a monster. Both guys are so deserving. Both in their 30's!!

On a less joyous note, I take pretty serious issue with the way ANW runs the competition. Once I found out about the original Sasuke, I went back and watched every single season. Because it's awesome. But I feel like the Japanese organizers of Sasuke clearly understood that the competition was "competitors versus course", not "competitor versus competitor". In that vein, any set of competitors who complete the course should be equally rewarded.

Can you imagine dedicating your life to completing that course, succeeding (as one of only two people in the world, over nearly a decade of competition), then walking away with nothing because the other guy was an insignificant amount faster than you?

Props to Isaac for at least mentioning "share the money" in the post-interview (not included in this sift).

Another way I massively disagree with ANW is that they significantly redesigned the courses for every year of competition. Some variation is essential to testing the competitors' adaptability, but with so much new stuff each year they excluded lots of top talent due to bad luck or running order. Cynically, maybe to avoid paying the prize money. Last year was particularly bad with only two guys making it to stage 3. I feel like this year the pendulum swung back a little too far (or maybe "farther than intended") which is why they actually had two winners. That said, that new cliffhanger is ridiculous, but at least it's a variation on existing obstacles instead of something totally unique.

Lastly, let's not forget ANW's "USA versus The World". Really? That's so stereotypically American it's sick, especially for an adopted competition.

You don't think well, and are 100% wrong about both my education and acquaintances, but you, on the other hand, do not seem to have either education or personal acquaintances to draw from on this subject. It seems some militant Feminist (they are not the only brand of Feminist, BTW) left a bad taste in your mouth, so now all feminism, to you, is distasteful. That's like eating a single spoilt sausage and from then on loudly telling people at dinner "meat is all tainted and it all makes you sick...you're just too dumb to know it", and continuing on that vein until they either (from exasperation) either stop eating it in your presence or find a way to ignore you, IMO, because attempting to rationally explain that some improperly handled meat is tainted, but not all, falls on deaf ears.

Dictionaries are where you look up the definitions of words, which is exactly what I did. Because you can't grasp the concept doesn't make it wrong.

Because your mind can't grasp the difference between the name of a movement based loosely on an idea and that idea does not mean there isn't one. Sorry, fail, just like your second paragraph in your last post which included many ANTI-feminist theories along with some overboard militant Feminist theories...I wonder if you can follow that thought since you don't grasp the difference in the words and claim there isn't one.

Equality is not advancement of one group at the expense of the other, it's the discontinuation of that process.

MY dictionary?!? Me thinks you protest too much. What's your issue with the English language (or language in general) that use of one of the main tools of language causes you such consternation and spawns such disrespectful and angry sounding replies? I honestly think you're just angry that I proved your argument's major flaw (that flaw being your inability to distinguish between a loose group's name and an idea...which makes one wonder, do you believe there were roaming gangs of large, dark colored cats protesting and attacking police in the US in the 60's and 70's?), but can't bring yourself to admit your argument had any flaw.

"Cultural fiction of gender"?!? Oh...I didn't realize I was having a discussion with a completely crazy person. If you actually believe gender is a "cultural fiction", there's no point discussing anything with you, because you live in a different reality from the rest of us that actually HAVE a gender, and not just culturally derived gender, and have ancestors that had gender before there was such a thing as "culture". What an insane statement, one that totally missed the point as well.

Spit on me, you'll find yourself in a bad place, and you'll find that many in favor of Women's rights are also in favor of removing ALL involuntary cultural distinctions of gender, a thing that has NOT been done by far, and you wish to stop any advancement towards equality of genders while one side is SO far ahead based solely on their GENDER. (damn, that word again describing a thing that doesn't exist...you must hate that, huh?)

Yes, if you fail to even conceive that, unfairly, there is a gender split in society that 99% of the time favors one gender to the detriment of the other, you by default fall into that opposing force, opposing fairness and equality, and individualism. No question. It's sad to me that you can't see that.

I'll ignore your last 2 paragraphs, I'm not speaking for @bareboards2, she's perfectly capable of speaking for herself, but has intelligently decided that further discussion with you on this subject is pointless...and I see she's likely right, you just want to argue about it, as made clear by your never ending arguments spawning from a simple clarification of what 2 words (spelled the same, but one being a proper name, the other an idea) actually mean...according to THE dictionary, and your insistence that the dictionary is wrong because it doesn't support your position that feminism and Feminism are the same thing. BWAAAHAAHAAHAAHAA!! That's too funny. Thanks for the laugh.

Enjoy exploring that hypothesis further, but without my further input. My points are made, some repeatedly.

American music isn't dead, Baroness - Grad Live

This was great. Always looking for bands like this. May I recommend listening to Pelican? Similar, a bit less 'heavy', a bit more prog, but along the same vein of instrumentalism.

Arizona Rattlers Football-Dancing Player

dannym3141 says...

Yep, and they do a workout immediately before filming a scene so that they have what bodybuilders refer to as 'the pump' or the bulky, swollen and/or vasculated vein look. Unrepresentative of the normal human body.

In fact, muscles like that do happen naturally, but usually only for a short amount of time and usually only from the world's top athletes. For example Jessica Ennis one of our sporting greats with cobblestones for abdominals. No one stays in that shape for very long and it's not certain to be good for your health to do that.

On top of that, due to the varied gene pool, people in peak physical fitness can take on all sorts of shapes and sizes.

bareboards2 said:

Did you know that all that ab action in the movies is not "natural"? That right before a movie scene is going to filmed, the actor works with his nutritionist and personal trainer for at least a couple of days beforehand? They work to minimize body fat for just that day. Makeup is also used to enhance the ab definition. And that right before the camera rolls, the men do crunches to make the muscles stand out even more?

Pixels review - he really didn't like this movie..

Kinda feel the same way ninety seconds into this review as the gentleman stated he felt after ninety minutes into the film in question. I would wager to guess that this is his shtick and his other reviews tend to run in a similar, vitriolic vein.

Passenger - Travelling Alone

Zawash says...

australian man
scandinavian tan
kicking stones round a square
he sat for a while
and carved out a smile
as if someone would care

said I’m a long way from the gold coast
furthest I’ve ever known
oh and this just ain’t my home
it was my wife’s idea
but she’s no longer here
she left me travelling alone

I’ve never heard silence
ring out like a bell
I’ve never heard silence
like last night in my expensive hotel
well I’m loving a shadow
and trying to catch the rain
but I never heard silence
'til I heard it today

well she walked out of the hotel
I could still smell the smoke
of a burning heart left inside
she said men are all arseholes
and life’s a bad joke
she laughed and started to cry

see ten years with this man
and a lifetime of plans
oh and I loved him to his bones
but now I’ve lines on my skin
and he’s traded me in
and left me travelling alone

well I never felt silence
hit me like a train
I never felt silence
like blood course through my veins
well I’m loving a shadow
and trying to catch the rain
I never heard silence
'til I heard it today
I never felt silence
'til I felt it today

Every Economy TV-Report EVER

I'm going to write a comment to express my approval of this video, how it reminds me of the other meta videos in this vein, and how I hope to see more. I'll then check my comment history periodically throughout the day hoping my self-esteem can be boosted by comment up-votes, but being sad knowing I'll get 1 if I'm lucky and most likely none. Then I'll try to convince myself I don't care what anyone thinks because I just want to put my thoughts out there even if no one reads it or agrees with me or is entertained by it, before looking for more videos I can attempt and fail to cleverly comment on, starting the whole torturous cycle all over again.

Your Brain On Shrooms

@newtboy
while i agree that shagen tends to get downright biblical in regards to psychedelics,i have never seen him suggest taking them irresponsibly or in an abusive manner.

in fact,i have seen him on multiple occasions lay out proper procedure to have a safe and enjoyable trip.

i actually agree with shagen the positive benefits psychedelics can have on a person, having experienced them myself on multiple occasions, over a span of decades.

the difference between shagen and i,is that i see trying to sway someone who has never ingested psychedelics into taking them in the very same vein as trying to sway an atheist into believing in jesus.

it is never going to happen,so why would i waste my time?

it is like trying to teach a blind man the color blue,or a woman what it is like to have a penis.

certain people have certain personality traits that may lend them to experiment with psychedelics.other people do not.one should not be judged greater or lesser than the other, because both represent personal choice.

personally i love psychedelics, for many of the reasons shagen posts.you may not,for your own reasons.totally fair in my book.
you will never see me at your door asking "having you found the joys of chemically induced hallucinations yet?"

maybe i should.....
i shall call it the "cult of acid".

What makes something right or wrong? Narrated by Stephen Fry

messenger says...

Fair comment. We'll certainly never be able to measure it. As with anything of a philosophical nature, there are thought experiments we could conduct, and though they might come up with wrong answers, there's a better chance they're right than arbitrarily picking a side, and human civilization was doing just fine before organized religion entered into it.

Expanding on your point about obeying your priest (and giving myself an opportunity to quote my most hated Bible verse), the lesson the Bible teaches in that vein is to obey not just priests, but all human authority because all leaders were placed there by God.

Romans 13
1Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. 3For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; 4for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. 5Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.

Stormsinger said:

I don't necessarily disagree with you. I tend to think that religion does more harm than good, especially when the lesson it teaches is "Don't think, just trust your priest".

However, his view -could- be right. I cannot think of any way to test it that doesn't involve highly unethical processes, so I can't help but hope that we'll never really know.

Fallout vs Skyrim - Vault Dweller vs Dovahkiin

Yes - you are completely right - I thought of it right after posting the video, but didn't remember to change it afterwards.

And yes - I too wish they had continued Fallout 3 in the same mature, dark, NSFW and WTF vein of Fallout 1 and 2.

Need More Proof That The Music Industry Is Fake? Here You Go

I found it really disappointing that Bob Mould autotuned on a recent album. A buddy of mine said I should give it a chance because it's really good, but there's so much other music out there, I think I'll pass (at least for now). I guess he's trying to embrace the new...

Whole thing gets a giant "meh" from me. Pop music is fake? Wow, we only found that out 50 years ago with the Monkees.

Darren Wilson Speaks Publicly For The First Time

charliem says...

Adrenaline has a very strong impact on memory storage. If you have it surging through your veins during memory creation, those memories become extremely easy to access, and far clearer than otherwise mundane events in your life. This is part of the reason that war vets have such a hard time with PTSD and flashbacks.

I dont doubt this guys words...he would have had to have gone over this story a hundred times to his superiors and with the grand jury case, of course it is rehearsed...what do you want? To hear him speaking to someone directly after the incident?
