Best song yet! I hope you find me more like this one! I really dig that mellow sound, songs like that put me into such a relaxed state. Actually all the songs you've shared with me have that same sort of tranquil sound to them - I guess that is what I like about them.

That headache sounds excruciating. I hope you feel better now...I'm guessing you must because otherwise you wouldn't sound so cheerful.

I noticed that! 4 out of 5 made top 15...that is so impressive. I think your King of Cannabis one was just as good as the others but didn't get as many votes because people didn't have the time to watch the full video. It's too bad because they missed out on a really good one.

Did you notice that you are the #5 sifter already this week?

Also, your applauded comment was tied for the third highest voted comment last week. You are off to an excellent start.

I certainly am becoming addicted to VideoSift! It has both a fantastic community and a very fun concept. Then again, the utterly agonizing, rusty-nail-in-left-hemisphere, cradling-head-in-hands-and-trying-not-to-vomit headache also helped me stay awake though. Also, now there are four of 'em in the top 15, and frankly, that wouldn't have happened without the power points you gave me! Thanks again for the warm welcome, and thanks for all the help. (Let's hope this one isn't blocked.)

I noticed you were on here again just 2 hours ago...that would be 4:30am in Gothenburg. You're becoming a true videosift addict.

P.S. I am thrilled to see that you have a second top 15 video now.

pumkinandstorm says...

Yessss...one more, and you even included songs!!

I really like the cool vibe of "Jubilee Street" (I haven't heard it before either). Oh come on!!! You are not going to believe it but this video of "The Knife" is also blocked!!! I was able to find another one on youtube that does play for me though, and it was worth looking for. We have such similar tastes in music. I really love all of these. I have 6 songs in my playlist now. That should keep me entertained during my commute to work tomorrow.

Not only is my user name poetic, but also mysterious...it gets better the more you talk about it.

Damn it! I'd already said good night, but I just can't leave it like that!

And yes, a poetic ring. There's a pumpkin and there is a storm. Are they related? Who knows! All I know is that I see the pumpkin, hear the storm, and smell them both.

As it turns out, it was good that it was blocked. I think I actually found a better version of it.

Glad you liked it!

Oh, and I'm in Gothenburg, Sweden. It's about 01:00 at night here, so I suppose it is undeniably getting a bit late here.

And that bit about checking out the recent comments is interesting - I hadn't thought to do that myself. I suppose I'll have to make a habit of it as well!

And in case we don't talk again tonight - good night, sleep tight, and as always, I have greatly enjoyed talking to you!

pumkinandstorm says...

Ok, I just have to respond to this last one before I go...

That last song is blocked it says. DAMN, I wanted to hear it before I closed. I will look up the song name and artist up on youtube later on when I get a chance. Keep sending more songs....don't stop now. I wouldn't mind if I logged in and there were 100 new ones on my profile.

A poetic ring to pumkinandstorm!! Well that's nice to know. Maybe I don't mind it so much after all.... Yeah, it is too bad that once you join most sites, you can't even change your name without closing the account and re-opening a new one....and that can't be done here. A person will be banned for having a second account. Oh well, lesson learned...don't be hasty when making such important decisions.

I've been in that position myself! You join a community and you sort of just want to get in there, but you can't come up with a name, so you pick something random. Then things get out of hand, and suddenly your arbitrarily chosen name is well-known in said community and you're past the point of no return.

For what it's worth, I think your name has a certain poetic ring to it.

(This is fun, so now I may never stop... )

This one is from 1993 and I have never heard it either! What an awesome "discover new songs" day. Thank you very much!! I shall add this new gem to my "Procrastinatron" playlist!!!

I have a habit of clicking on the "comments" tab and reading all the recent new comments on a regular basis and our messages have taken over. We're chatting a lot today. It's fun. I have to go now though...I know you said yesterday around this time that "it's getting late"...not sure what time zone you're in....it's about 6:45pm here in Toronto. Have a great night if I don't talk to you again this evening.

Procrastinatron said:

Y'know, that sounds like a fun idea!

pumkinandstorm says...

Hence, your username. I was going to ask how you came up with it - it's a good one! Mine was named after my cats. I had a youtube channel for them and signed up here at that time which is why I went with that one...but if I could go back, I would definitely have gone with something MUCH cooler.

Procrastinatron said:

Haha, possibly, but I don't think so! Honestly, I'm just currently using VS to furiously procrastinate. Also, it's a lot more fun than I ever expected it to be, and that is pretty motivating.

pumkinandstorm says...

You did it!!!! Now I hope you make a habit of sharing more songs with me because all the ones you've given me so far I LOVE!! I need to download them right now and put them on my ipod!

Procrastinatron said:

There we go! Thanks for the help.

Oh, and can you believe that I actually hadn't heard Wish You Were Here before? So awesome.

pumkinandstorm says...

I was thinking the same thing...that it only seemed proper that both your first comment and your first video earned you a power point!!

What you said about me filling the top 15 list with my submissions...well just to be clear, I've never taken over the entire list...not to say it will never happen, it just hasn't happened yet, and it's not from lack of trying. I bet if you put your mind to it, you could do that before I do! You strike me as being much more aggressive than I am.

pumkinandstorm says...

You're 22!!! I thought you were much older than that. People in their early 20's don't usually know as much about everything as you do. I'm very happy that I was wrong about you being ancient.

Procrastinatron said:

Yeah, I'm actually pretty psyched about that!

It feels properly dramatic that my very first comment was applauded, and that my first submitted video made the top 15.

And come now - from what I hear, your record is the entire top 15 filled with nothing but your submissions, and I don't think I'm likely to top that anytime soon. Or, well... ever.

Also, I have to admit that I actually haven't watched the entire MJ documentary myself yet ...it's just so long! It felt very interesting, though, and as you noted, very conducive to interesting discussion.

As for the music... I'm only 22 years old, so I definitely didn't grow up with Pink Floyd.

To be quite honest, I don't think I actually have any specific fondness for any genre of music from any specific period. When I look at my different Spotify playlists, I've got everything from Talking Heads to Arvo Pärt to the soundtrack from Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Also, you have good taste! Here are a couple of my favourite Pink Floyd songs.

*EDIT*
For some reason, the embeds are refusing to work.

pumkinandstorm says...

I'm going to respond to that last one in a couple of parts since I might have to close soon...

I LOVE Comfortably Numb also!!!! I was actually debating on which one I was going to tell you was my favorite because that one rates right up there!

Can you believe I have never heard "In the Flesh" before? I don't know how I missed it - it's definitely one of the better ones. Thanks for sharing it with me. I've got it playing in the background now as I type to you.

Embedding is easy once you know how...I was actually able to copy and paste from the https://www.youtube.com part to view your embeds...but here's how to do it...

1. Under the video on youtube, click "share"
2. Then click on "embed"
3. Then tick the box saying "use old embed code"
4. Then copy the embed code in the box and paste it in your comment here.

Test it out. Give me another good song to listen to.
