I learned on an electric through a full course in "keyboarding" AKA typing taken in the first semester of high school. 80 minutes every day of typing practice, theory, and drills. It's literally the most useful thing I actually learned in high school next to the math stuff. I now use a blank mechanical keyboard (Das Keyboard Model S Ultimate Silent) most of the time.
