What is a Prius good for? Target practice!

I love Jeremy Clarkson but he's awfully one sided on the issue of any environmentalism, his fervent belief is that real super cars should really be a danger to the enviroment with intakes large enough to suck rabbits into, fuel consumption that changes oil prices, and fuel efficency of a sloth.

The last person you'd want to ask if you were out to buy a normal decent car instead of a Ford G40 like he does

True, farhad, he is pretty critical of anything with less then 6 cylinders. But I've never meet a prius I liked. I'm cool with hybryds or eco-friendly cars but that doesn't mean they need to look but ugly and sized for people under 5'-6"

...heres the skinny, until they let us have the free energy that's already available to all, for what, can i hear everyone say FREE??!?!-we will not be having any fun, anything practical, or anything amicable to all sentients.....

454 big block, blueprinted, bored, on a chassis way too light for gravity...fuck hybrids!

Bear in mind the Prius in this feature is the old version, last made in 2003. It was an ugly piece of crap. The hatchback version that's been out since 2004 is much nicer looking, more efficient, roomier, and an all-around great car. It's zippy, problem-free, filled with conveniences. Everyone who rides in mine seems shocked at how roomy and nice it is.

I really liked the EV1 from General Motors before they pulled it off the market for dubious reasons.

Probably because it looks like a cows arse... while it's excreting.

But hey, who am I?

Kruposays...

I'd like to upvote the comedy in the video - for being over the top - but at the same time, he was a complete ass - it's like a throwback to his FSO Polonez clip.

Even as I laughed at the Polonez, I was like, "must you be so overbearing with your humour?"

He does it here again. V. tempted to downvote that - I took one for a test drive, and you can really punch that into a fast clip if you know what you're doing - and yeah, the old model in this vid is definitely an ugly P.O.S. compared to the newer version.

Hmm... neutral for now.

... scratch that, I'm pissed at Toyota for being stingy with ABS (optional feature? WTF?) - perhaps not on this car, but their other models. Even though I could've gone for a model with ABS, I was offended that they decided to make it optional. What a crock. Upvote for the gunfire.

I'm 6'4" and I have no problems with my 2005 prius. I like the way it looks and really like paying $20 for a tankful which lasts a week and a few days. Another thing I like...Waiting at a stop or in stop and go traffic without the engine running. Clarkson has very different priorities than I do. It may take me a while to break even on the purchase price differential, but at least I'm doing something about out dependence on oil in the meantime. And yes, I would prefer an EV1 or a hydrogen fuel cell car but I don't see any for sale at a price anyone would pay. As for diesel, you may burn less, but it's far more polluting than burning gasoline.

And what the heck? He suggests a VW Golf, after complaining that the Prius is ugly? His show is absolutely full of completely hideous cars. Not that I am apologizing for the ugliness of the Prius, but damn. People in glass houses, and all that.
