Vote Vets' Jon Soltz Debates F-22 With Rep. Phil Gingrey

NetRunnersays...

I just want to point out that Gingrey's chief defense of the F-22 is that government spending creates jobs.

I seem to remember Republicans singing a different tune a few months ago when we were debating fiscal stimulus.

In fact, I recall the RNC chairman saying something to the effect of "Never in the history of mankind has government created a job."

The "small difference" between defense spending and socialist programs which don't work and never will is the former is authorized by the Constitution while the latter is not.

This is such a ridiculous argument. We've got men and women fighting around the world RIGHT NOW who need better armor, weapons, and support, and this bastard wants to spend hundreds of millions on jets that would do NOTHING but funnel tax money into his district. We already have 187 of them! 12 more will not do anything to deter China or Russia or any other potential threat. Even if we really do need 381 of these advanced air-to-air fighters some time in the future, we need to spend the money where it's needed now. The priority is obvious.
