Van Halen "Jump" stage mishap

Van Halen has a technical glitch in their recent Greensboro, NC concert. A fairly decent explanation of what actually happened can be found here.

Might need some earplugs when it gets to the bagpipey part.

Wow. Just. Wow.

No words, really. I wished they would have stopped, got their synth rates normal again, and then started again.

The best part is watching EVH trying desperately to find the key. At some point, he realizes that he can't (because the synth is up about 1.5 pitches, and there are no frets on the guitar that can match it) and he just kind of goes with it. Must have been some of the longest five minutes on stage...

OH, how painful ! man, just imagine how bad that would suck if that was you on stage. GREAT FIND. nice to actually see mega talented people go through this shit too :-)

As a person who plays guitar, I have nothing but props to Van Halen for trying to stick with it; he actually manages to do a decent job at playing in tune with it for the last minute. Considering he'd have to quarter bend every note on a fret one higher than he's used to, that's pretty damn sick.

Either that or he's got some really precise tremolo bar skills, lol.

I watched this today without sound expecting to see some kind of stage accident. Now, with sound, I cannot continue to listen. The classy thing to do would be to stop the song and go to a raw, unscheduled song and show some spontaneity. Poor DLR...
