Van Gogh's Starry Night transformed into into a 3d world

From the creator:

Ever looked at your favorite painting and wished you could wander inside, to look at it from different perspectives? Spend a single day in one of mine, from early sunrise on a new day, to dusk when lights come on in cozy homes; through a peaceful night, till morning.

Shot on location in Second Life then post-produced, this was an idea I had a while ago. The Sim in this work was on temporary loan so it's all been swept away now, leaving only the film behind. It was always intended however that the video would be the end product, not the build.

It's not a 3D modeling program. it's the builder from the VERY crappy "Second Life" game...or MMO or whatever they're calling this over-hyped piece of nothing.

The best thing about Second Life is their promotion department because they have better marketing and "buzz" than just about anything...yet Second Life itself is just a mess. It looks more like a beta version of some 3D game that was abandoned about 5 years ago. It's horrendous.

But don't take my word for it, go to secondlife.com and make an account and download their software...it's all free. But even free costs too much in my opinion.

gorgonheap: if you want to get your feet wet, Google Sketchup is a [free] modeling program. I designed a basement remodel in half a day - and that was before I knew what I was doing. :-)
