Gardasil Victim Speaks Out After 2 Years

At any given time, 26% of American women aged 14-59 are infected with one form of HPV. That's one out of every four women. That is huge.

Though Gardasil doesn't protect one from all types of HPV it does protect against the types that have a greater chance of causing cervical (and anal) cancers which are the fifth most deadly in women.

Does Gardasil have some adverse side-effects? Yes... but all medication does, and all of the serious research has shown that the side-effect rate of Gardasil lines up with that of other vaccines.

Further, the people who manufacture HPV vaccines, and organizations like the FDA and CDC, continue to monitor the situation to see if the rate of major side-effects increases beyond levels found in other vaccines.

People should be aware of the side-effects of any drugs they are on, but scaring people into avoiding something that may save their life is wrong.

I started watching this, thinking it was going to be coming from a legitimate organization. I was wrong.

This confirms exactly what I have been saying: the side-effects are in line with the side-effects of most other vaccines. Deaths related to Gardasil (yet still not proven to be directly because of it) amount to about 0.1 out of 100,000 doses which is tiny. For comparison, in the US 0.1 of 100,000 children 5-14 die of accidental falls, 22 times as many, 2.2 per 100,000, children in the US die of maltreatment.

32 suspected deaths associated with Gardasil is unfortunate, but does not make Gardasil the scary bogeyman certain people would have you believe.

OK, so I have a12 year old daughter.
Speaking from first hand experience, my daughter received this shot in grade six (last school year). There were no adverse effects. But as a parent, it is still a scary situation that we put our lives and the lives of our children at risk to medications we don’t know anything about.

Sure, some medications can be a good thing. But it seems odd to me that a vaccination can cause so many problems and cause such an uproar. There is quite a lot of negative media out there for this drug, as well as the fact that they want to make this drug mandatory for all kids, and they are considering prescribing it for all boys as well. - That right there puts up red flags for me.

Big Pharma companies are always looking for the new “New Drug” to sell us. They don’t stay in business unless they keep us buying their products. And with the monies involved in these drugs, I don’t put it past them to fake results, skew data, lie or deflect negative publicity. I also don’t put it past them to create the illnesses that ail us, just so they can sell us the fix. (not that I'm saying that's what they've done here).

If we don’t stop and question what is being shoved down our throats, then who is going to? I’m not flat out accusing anyone of anything specific, but don’t just think that if a government agency has passed it, that it is safe.

Kids should not be getting sick and dying because of this drug – but they are.
Not all of them, it’s a small percentage, but in my mind and the minds of many others and in the minds of those who have been effected, it is still too many. You can’t think, “Oh, that’s OK, we can kill off a few kids and make a bunch more suffer – it’s for the greater good”. Because that’s NOT OK in my books.

The CDC state they have been monitoring Gardasil closely and they state that as of 30 Sept. 2010, 56 deaths have been reported out of a total of 32 million doses. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/vaccines/hpv/gardasil.html. Like Skeeve pointed out, that's 0.000175% of all doses given, an incredibly low number.

There has been no established causal link between these deaths and the use of the vaccine, even cases of blood clots were mostly found to be related to other risk factors.

Now unless we can no longer trust the CDC, I'd say that it's probably a pretty safe bet that this vaccine is worthwhile. I've not done a ton of research on this (obviously) and am always willing to alter my position based on the evidence, but it really feels like this is yet another case of unscientific anti-vaccine hysteria.
