U.S. Government's dirty Little secret about meat

70% of ALL Beef and Chicken has been treated with Carbon Monoxide Gas. It makes meat look good even though it may have spoiled. The practice of treating meat with carbon monoxide gas could hide the growth of pathogens such as Clostridium Botulinum, Salmonella and E. coli

How many people have become poisoned by this chemical technique that creates a false appearance of freshness?

Why have we not been told about this chemically altered meat that we are eating and feeding our children? Our Government works on behalf of big business NOT for The People Of America!

The FDA approved the practice as safe for use when packaged in July 2004 in response to requests from two food companies. The EU prohibits food companies from using carbon monoxide.

Im not sure what kind of Left wing nut job edited the text on this video claiming the government was responsible. After watching the video, Eric, your title is very misleading, as this is not a secret of the government, as the congressional hearing is trying to make consumers more aware.
All the text on screen at the end of the video reads as such:

"once again our government take something dirty and rotten and stuffs it down our throat. Even if it hurts Americans. God, Please help America. Wake up to all the corruption in our government, stand up for your rights."

That statement is so far of from the narration of the news reporter its not even funny. I'm not sure what kind of idiot made this video, nor what kind of idiots are in their target audience. What did the government stuff down our throats? The government isn't selling meant. They are the ones inspecting it and warning consumers now. "Even if it hurts Americans" Thats exactly why they are forcing the labeling of such meats. "wake up to all the corruption" Hmmm.. seems to me the government is doing a good thing for once.
Upvote for the reporting, another up vote for the content, but down vote for the retarded editing.

[Edit] Please change your title.

I wish people would get a clue... God has nothing to do with anything. Except maybe in your imagination. So the 'all powerful creator of the universe' can't do something about spoiling meat, but the meat packing industry and FDA can by sticking a 4 Ford's tailpipe down the throat of a dead cow. LOL.

This video is garbage. There are some issues with consumer awareness about the effect of CO treated meat, but the bottom line *SHOULD* be that CO treatment actually does extend the shelf life of meat. E Coli growth is slowed, rancidity is slowed, meat actually lasts longer.

If you wanted to talk about fish, then yes- I absolutely agree. The deterioration of fish is due to anaerobic processes within the flesh itself- enzymes breaking down the flesh, etc. CO treatment does nothing good for fish.

But it does actually improve meat's shelf life.

Often times, people will cite Canada as being an example of a country where CO has been banned in meat packaging. I've actually spoken with some of the people that made that happen, and we didn't ban it because it is wrong. We banned it because of "public perception". Which is to say, videos like this one.

Get your facts straight before you make a video like this and distribute it on the interwebs. Shame on the producer. At least the news report that you're using has some facts -- don't try and turn it into a huge government conspiracy.

"CARBON MONOXIDE GAS" ffs. ONOZ Deadly toxic gas!!!!
