BLEH. That could be 1 of a thousand things. Judging by the grain of the video, the ISO was CRANKED on his camera, so this was a VERY dim object, ESPECIALLY because he could even see it with out the "night vision" And since there is no frame of referance to see if his camera is moving, it could very well be a pyrotechnic of some sort and thats why it broke apart and died out.

My guess would be something like an illumination flare (I forget their actual name). They're on a little parachute, so if they're far off then they look like they're hovering in place. I don't know if the disintegration is normal though.
