Dog Rescue-Why You Should Not Use Rat Poison

Warning****hard to watch badly poisoned dog, but he's saved and healthy in the end.

In a very close brush with death, we rescued this very sweet dog who had most likely ingested rat poison containing strychnine. The poison causes an extremely painful toxic reaction that usually results in death, but thankfully we were able to treat and save this dear boy just in time.

*promote so people might think twice before spreading rat poison around where other animals (or kids) can get at it...hopefully this will convince some people to stop using rat poison at all, because even if pets can't get the poison, they might eat poisoned rats and still be poisoned themselves. Also, it's a disgustingly painful way to dispatch pests, there are many, more 'humane' alternatives in most situations.

Putting rat poison outside is especially silly. There are an unlimited number of rats outdoors. It's like thinking your bug zapper is going to somehow kill all the mosquitoes. If that's a problem, get some cats to piss on things and kill the rats.

didn't want to watch but a dog in my neighbourhood (Ottawa) died of rat poison just last year. I wanted to know what to look for in case it happens again. Who the hell would put rat poison down in this neighbourhood @$$hole
