Romanian customs officers seize 70,000 cigarettes illegally imported from the Ukraine. The smokes are cleverly hidden in hollowed out logs with the ends re-attached.

probably weighed the load. found it was too light for the number of logs? or maybe a tip. why is that happening? is it illegal to import smokes?

It's illegal to import them in many countries without paying the tax on them.

It's certainly the weight that tipped of customs, unless they got a tip of course. Wood, especially freshly cut, is rather heavy. The amount of cigarettes would've made the logs too light.
The should've put some lead weights between the cigarettes as this is a very clever way to hide them. Kudos to the guy who thought of that.
