The most common melody in the world

Nokia took their ring tone from a musical phrase in Francisco Tárrega's "Gran Vals." You'll hear it 15 seconds into this clip, and again at 2:56. It is heard on 800,000 phones around the world.

best one i heard for a while, was a really drunk guy on some police tv show, and while the cops were talking to him his phone went off. He had "what shall we do with the drunken sailor" for his ring tone. :-) class.

Sorry Nokia tune, you got replaced by Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up.
Only downside is I don't want to answer because I want to hear the whole song.

I thought Shave and a Haircut was more common. It's older than Gran Vals, too, by three years. Hell, people even knock on doors to the cadence of Shave and a Haircut.

Shave and a haircut, two bits!
