I hated this fucking movie and I'll tell you why: the advertising campaign.

It was TOTAL bait and switch. The ads made this seem like it was some sort of slap-stick comedy and it turns out to be some depressing, introspective bullshit.

Mind you, I might have liked it if I had known what it was REALLY like, but man did that trailer piss me off in retrospect.

It is, but my point is that the trailer made it out to be some happy-go-lucky fun fun fun whacky sort of film which I ended up going to see with my Aunt and Uncle and it ends up being about suicide and incest.... yeah... fucking wonderful family entertainment.

The father saved his family, and that's what he wanted most.

I really hated the movie, too. Everyone talked it up, but I just couldn't stand it. I abhor Ben Stiller, though, so maybe that had something to do with it.

I don't think I've seen this. It gives me the same vibe as The World Aquatic with Steve Zissou, which I though were a comedy too, but at some point everything turns to shit, people die and everything gets so depressing.
