Deductive reasoning is not a philosophy, just a way of thinking.
In a deductive argument, the premises must be true in order for the conclusion to be true. If this criteria is met, then the argument is considered valid.
Causality is a concept of the relationship between a cause and its effect.
Yes, they may go together, especially if we talk about Determinism (which is a philosophical position) but I don't think they are the same thing, as far as I know.
What I am trying to say is that the Frenchman is a Determinist who is using deductive reasoning to discuss Causality.
