The "Hipster" Identity Explained - (TED Talk)

"Everybody hates hipsters......... especially hipsters"

What he says about how the hipster movement getting crushed instantly caught me. It's the same with meme's now, like the 'arrow to the knee' meme went out so fast that people only just learned about it by way of people complaining about it. I would have much preferred that a nice swell of hipster culture came and lasted long enough to maybe define 2000's, like metal was 80's and hippie 60's etc.

Wow... This actually got sifted through??

I found myself being irritated by the terrible editing job and that he does not say anything new or thought provoking until 9 minutes into his lecture, only to realize that the point he makes towards the end doesn't really tie in with the first 9 minutes of his lecture.

But really, it's the editing that gets me the most. Maybe they were trying to cover up his long pauses in between his dialogue, or maybe they were just trying to make the video shorter so they can squeeze it within 15 minutes. Either case, it really looks sloppy.

Yeah, how dare he make us wait to build an idea and give it context. I hate him.>> ^legacy0100:

Yeah, how great was that when he just rounded up all common existing stereotypes of a hipster? Or when he kept talking about himself and how hipster he is, which doesn't really make any difference to the credibility of his argument.

Some of what he said during that 9 minute may relate to his main point later on. But when I say 'some', I mean like a minute or two, maximum. And that's being generous as rest of it is just gibberish.

Anyways, interesting point, terrible speech. COOL STORY BRO.

P.S. Oh, and look at those giant teeth!!!
