GREAT movie. It can only truly be enjoyed in surround sound.

That weird reaction at 7:03, not to mention the tongue at 0:10 in the second clip. How... unseemly behaviour for a so-called "emperor", eh? Was that the point I guess?

^Indeed this film is a revision. But it is based on a good foundation of facts. To make a long story short, Commodus had serious psychological issues (he once put forth a law that all women must lose their virginity by their brothers or cousins, later claiming it was a joke to get a rise out of the Senators). He was prone to public outburst and would easily have been capable of a display like that. Indeed this display might have actually happened as it does in the movie, as he DID mark his father's death with 100 days of gladiatorial games. Man, I really could write a whole book chapter about these two...

And Krupo, your question seems to indicate that you haven't watch the movie. I'd recommend that you do. It's well worth a rental, or even a purchase of the DVD. It's an excellent addition to almost anyone's DVD library.
