westysays..."flacid with rage" lol but realy i find apple computers harder to use in manny respects. and im not sure if apple is more intuative to use than windows ore versoins of nux. (for exsperanced computer uses ore non exsperanced) sometimes i think its esear to lern something if it folows its own conventoins that are singuler to the aplicatoin of that item. and thus develops its own conventoins and rule sets. i guess the problem accuers when people think of apples like pcs and pcs like apples. thay are 2 difrent methadolagies of achiving the goal of vertual interactoin.
rembarsays...Westy, I don't believe the concept of relativism applies to OS usability. (I assume you're talking strictly about the software capabilities and not the hardware.)
Just because each OS develops its own conventions and tools, doesn't mean they are equal. For instance, MS-DOS uses a CLI for user input, while more modern OSes use GUIs. Which is easier, typing "cd folder/myfolder/this folder" each time you want to change the directory you're browsing, or clicking "This Folder", and seeing a bunch of icons pop up? On top of that, there's certain coding restrictions that affect each OS's performance. For example, Windows requires native backwards compatibility with older versions of Windows, which makes for a huge number of quick-and-dirty fixes that end up biting Windows in the butt many many times. Mac OS X, on the other hand, uses an emulated environment to run older programs designed for Mac OS 9 and other older versions, allowing for a cleaner front-end OS. Obviously, there are going to be times when different situations make one OS more useful than another, but to say this is the case all the time is fallacious.
Or, as someone on Slashdot would say: "Windows sucks!"
rembarsays...P.S. Dude...spellcheck. Please.
cobaltsays...Westy will never spellcheck. I think he does it on purpose
I upvoted at the "flaccid with rage" line
KJay489says...I don't think that kind of vocabulary goes along well with horrid spelling errors.
p.s. Colbert rocks.
fungiblesays...If Westy had a Mac, it would spellcheck for him!
