Its funny how this wouldn't be an interesting speech if he wasn't a Republican.

We've given Republican leaders so much leeway under the guise of loyalty to the administration that any common sense notions spoken from the right that are counter to those publically held by the White House are news-worthy.

I disagree with him at one thing - the reluctance for "nation building" could justify reluctance to support intervention in humanitarian crises such as Rwanda and Darfur.

It's so refreshing -- and shocking -- to hear something rational come out of a Republican politician's mouth. Guess they're not all slimy, greedy, morally-bankrupt drones after all.
