ponceleonPreviously underappreciated, I'm glad that The Thing is getting recognition on recent lists as one of the best horror flicks ever made.

Indeed! It had the most advanced special effects for it's time, and they stood up for years to come. I really wish they'd have made a sequel, it was left wide open for it. I'm also really surprised it hasn't been re-made with today's special effects. But I'd like Carpenter to be the one to do it if anyone.
And that line, "Let's rush him! he can't blow us all up!" is classic.
gwiz665Fuck yeah, The Thing is one of my favorite horror flicks.
siftbotMoving this video to Duckman33's personal queue. It failed to receive enough votes to get sifted up to the front page within 2 days.

siftbotPromoting this video and sending it back into the queue for one more try; last queued - promote requested by burdturgler.
Croccydilesays...I watched this again recently, and I can only agree this movie despite its age it proves that CGI cannot replace some things. Even in HD, were mistakes normally invisible on DVD start showing up it looks great.

First time I've tried this combo together, lets see if Sifty (damn silicon wafer) eats one of them...
siftbotThis video has been declared non-functional; embed code must be fixed within 2 days or it will be sent to the dead pool - declared dead by kceaton1.
Added alternate embed code for this video - backup requested by kceaton1.
kceaton1Hopefully the backup did the trick (first time I've messed with it, so don't blame me for utter failure
).
*notdead edit: (busted...oh well; someone else can call this dead, hopefully if they have the power to switch out the old embed with the backup; as I found out you need to be Ruby or higher to do it)
Well, I "thought" that "manually" fixed it; but, as I found out a bit later (and it took a bit of digging with the search engine) that you do indeed need a higher star level to manually fix the embed.
AHH! For those interested, you need to be Ruby or higher to fix an embed and replace it with a backup; off to find a helper...
EXTRA EDIT!
BTW, You can pull this off so long as you can invoke backup and dead (so Silver, like me, I just did things in the wrong order and didn't know...so on so forth). Post the backup, then declare it dead; then let the tin can work everything else out.
siftbotThis dead video has been deemed functional; either it was accidentally declared dead or kceaton1 is planning to manually replace the embed with a backup - declared notdead by kceaton1.
eric3579*dead
siftbotAutomatically replaced video embed code with backup #8070 (supplied by member kceaton1) - video declared dead by member eric3579.
