I have learned, that people have absolutely no perspective AT ALL. Everyone all says something like "oh.. back when I was a kid things were a lot better". People of my age say it. the generation before does, and the generation before, ad nauseam.
This sort of analysis shows that things have been getting a lot better for at least the last 150 years all over the world.
