Dignant_Pinksays...what a disappointment. the comic was better in so many ways. superman was bloodier, doomsday was bigger, superman fought harder. i tell ya, when superman died in the comic, i nearly cried.
Dignant_Pinksays...oh yea, and lex luthor is dead, and lois calls him clark, not superman. not to mention lois, lex, and jimmy look nothing like their comic book counterparts.
digitalbombdogsays...I like the battle as envisioned here for what it's worth, which in my opinion is not much. Doomsday was a poorly thought out concept to draw big sales for the "Death of Superman" I was sorely disappointed in the comic book story as there are a number of heroes in the DC universe, including Superman, capable of defeating such a basic juggernaut as Doomsday. Nowhere near the best writing offered in the comic book industry.
Wow. Geek-out moment.
Chaucersays...yea. I teared up too. In fact, I still have my comics in this arc. I may just break them out and re-read them.
mt256says...very nice
any other new animated shows/dvds out? I loved JLU. Hear they may do a live action movie too...
budzosThis DVD had a great first half, except (SPOILER ALERT)...
when Superman takes Doomsday up into space... he should have just fired him off into oblivion, or into the sun. Instead he basically commits suicide by turning around and smashing into the street as hard as he can... not to mention he must have killed hundreds of people by flattening about a few city blocks in Metropolis.
This is not a great DVD but like I said the first half has some decent slugfest action. The animation is just not that great though. I really wish Marvel and DC would get some bigger budgets for their animated projects.
mt256... Marvel released a few DVDs in the past year and a bit.. two "Ultimates" features, Iron Man, and Dr Strange. Iron Man has the best animation, although it's all a bit sketchy.
