This is Stephen Colbert being interviewed as a guest on The Late Show w/ David Letterman in 2005, speaking about his family and talks about the brand new show The Colbert Report that debuted on Oct. 17, 2005. Yay ColBERRRR(T)!

Classic Colbert, he was much different before he developed his character. Some would disagree but I liked him more from the Daily Show and the first few months of the Colbert Report.

i think he was always hilarious. he was hilarious on the daily show and now he's a different kind of hilarious.

Well, yes. He had to become different to come into his own, and of course he has his own writers and he is in control now. I'd say he is different but still great as well! Jon Stewart couldn't have been a better big bro to him!
