MarineGunrocksays...I question why he doesn't get rid of the BCGs.
*philosophy
siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Philosophy) - requested by MarineGunrock.
kronosposeidonsays...If that doesn't depress the shit out of you I don't know what will.
8727says...why is he in iraq with that weapon?
studies show that people are becoming less and less violent, so it's not all doom and gloom.
one of the problems we still have left in the world is that some people are still so gullible to actively participate in aggressive conquest-for-more-power wars like this guy. if he really does question these things he should never have signed up.
8999says...Hell yeah..Wish he was in my shypher when I was out there. I wonder what he would of said when our Colonel told us our death meant nothing to the objective at hand.
calvadossays...In highschool, I had a very pretentious, very full-of-herself teacher who once opined to us that if there were no more guns, if they somehow vanished never to return, there would be no more wars. I reminded her about swords and all the killing that had happened in the millennia prior to firearms, and that to think people couldn't return to killing each other wholesale hand-to-hand was a pipe dream. She didn't like that.
Conflict is part of human nature; therefore violence is unfortunately part of human nature, between individuals and between groups. Evil does not exist simply due to the existence of modern weaponry, which is exactly what buddy just said in the video. To paraphrase Albert Einstein, so long as there are humans, there will be wars.
rbarsays...I agree with you Calvados, but the wide spread availability of guns sure make it a lot easier. Murdering with a knife instead of an AK47 will get you a lot less bang for your dollar.
Also, in a world where injustice is practically non existent and everyone has a guaranteed minimum living standard, the reason for killing disappears in all but the most greedy or homicidal. You just stand to loose too much. I know it sounds like an idealistic dream, but consider how close some countries get to that dream already. (Scandinavian countries come to mind)
Besides, John Lennon believed it ;-)
Fedquipsays...make love not war.
8727says...in the developed world the only real reason why we go to war is if we're told a bunch of negative things to believe by our leaders and propaganda. ('just wars' wouldn't count - if it's got to happen it's got to happen - but when does that ever happen?!).
large scale murdering isn't natural for humans, in this era you'd have to be brainwashed, oppressed, or religiously insane to take part in full scale aggression towards another country. humans are the only successful hominids because we're mostly intelligent and peaceful - not because we're warmongers. plus we're gradually moving away from violence over time : http://www.videosift.com/video/TED-Steven-Pinker-A-brief-history-of-violence
so it's actually all looking up. obviously a guy's gonna be pessimistic about human nature when he himself chooses to go kill Iraqis...
rbarsays...here here Johnald. Couldnt agree more.
