Branded To Kill (1967).
The movie that inspired Ghost Dog more than a bit, by the director that inspired lots of film-makers.
Also, the movie that got him blacklisted from the Japanese film industry for 10 years.

Jim said it borrowed alot from Branded to Kill. As well as cartoons, the whole shooting up the pipe is foreshadowed on one of the TV screens in the film.
