TheSluiceGatesays...Contrary to popular belief sea lions can be very agressive and dangerous.
"Sea Lions
Sea lions are usually playful, however they can be territorial and dangerous especially during the mating seasons. Accidents among divers are reported much more frequently than with sharks. Advice: get out of water if sea lions show territorial behavior (barking), don’t swim with large males, don’t approach sea lions during the mating season."

critical_dsays...What part of "sea lion" do these guys not understand? It's not a "sea pup", or "sea cutie", it's a sea LION!! If one of those idiots got bitten they probably would have come back with a rifle and slaughtered everything in sight as retribution. Idiots.
articiansays...They live in that area, so they know what to expect. The behavior by this lion was relatively strange. I'd personally have wondered if marine animals can acquire rabies, rather than any of the typical dangers they might present. Either way, I'm sure these guys were ready to bludgeon it in the head and paddle for the shore if anything.
Lions aside... look at those fish! Whew! Man those look amazing. I kind of can't blame the lion!
DrNoodlessays...Amazing!
Zaibachsays..."He smells your fish"
Why am I thinking like this.. damnit!
evilspongebobsays...that ain't a sea lion...just a fur seal....sea lions are about twice as big as that. and mean. sea lions are just like honey badgers (you know the one i'm talking about) and don't take no shit.
Mammaltronsays...I lost it at "chew it, man!"
HugeJerksays...This isn't terribly uncommon. The Sea Lions around Dana Point in SoCal were like big annoying dogs... not really aggressive, but all too willing to use your boat for a rest spot and look for food.
