MrFiskAlternate title: Sasha Grey on Porn and Its Place In Her.
GenjiKilpatrickI think the one about interracial is a little more interesting.
edit - ..oh :: glances down the front page ::
blankfistShe's not a very engaging interview, is she? I suppose she doesn't have to be.
GeeSussFreeKActing is to porn like articles are to playboy.
gwiz665More like Missionary Statement, am I right fellas?? *holds hand up*
Fellas..?
shuacHave any of you seen any of her films? They're very nasty, very hardcore, the opposite of sexy. Totally NOT my thing.
TrancecoachShe basically says the same thing when she was on the Tyra Banks talk show.
to her credit, she's got a mind of her own -- and, at the very least, managed to catch the eye of director, Steven Soderbergh, in the "crossover" film she made with him a couple years ago.
SDGundamXI dunno how to feel about this. On the one hand, I respect that she has pride in what she does and tries to think deeply about it. On the other hand, I just can't respect her job. It seems to me that her job is to fulfill the misogynistic fantasies of a male-dominated industry. The vast majority of these movies fuel the stereotype that women are nothing more than sex-objects and that women enjoy being treated that way. I don't see her saying there's anything wrong with that.
I understand as males we have a strong biological urge to procreate, but I've never heard of there existing any biological need to objectify women. That's seems to me to be a purely cultural construct. I honestly hope a day will come when people feel they don't need porn anymore and this young woman can start exploring her potential as an actress as more than just a "sexual being" but as a human being.
EDIT: Just found this very interesting essay by Naomi Wolf for the case against porn. I agree with one of the comments after the article which states: "Porn isn’t wrong, a society that considers objectifying women to be the normal is what’s fucked up.
YogiI've watched all her little interviews and I don't really have an opinion on them. Some of her porn is very hardcore and in some cases just annoying with her yelling the whole time. In any case she's a very attractive woman who seems to be reasonably smart so good luck to her.
