That is the essence of why I stopped believing completely in my 20s. There is simply no foundation of reality in Christianity, especially when regarded in the context of the multitudes of other religions that claim to be the one true faith. There is absolutely nothing to contradict the idea that a small group of people simply made it all up some time around 50-60 AD. The same goes for every other religion, the only changes are year of inception and the corresponding expectations of the societies from whence they come.

It goes further than that. Not only is there nothing to contradict the the idea that a handful of people made the whole thing up, common sense states that it is far more likely.
