Roman Polanski: The Lamp (1959)(short film)

The Lamp is a b&w short that Polanski made during his final year at Lodz Film School. IMDB reports that Polanski has since disowned this film, but I don't really know why because it is quite good. You can see certain elements of this short in later films by Jan Svankmeyer and even in more recent films like Steven Soderbergh's BUBBLE.

Polanski is more miss than hit these days. His early stuff is great, though.

I thought Ninth Gate was pretty good. But I do find that I like it because of my particular sensibilities.
