enochpanda is a good service to use.it is worth it to sign up.
this is a particularly nasty bugger and the only way i have found to get rid of it successfully is to do a system restore.
syncronStill using Windows XP might have something to do with it too.
Razorsays...This type of attack is hardly new; I've seen examples of this for nearly 5 years =P
As usual, the condition of a person's computer is that person's responsibility.
DraxYeah, I heard about this type of attack quite a while ago too, but this sift did lead me to check out Panda's free anti-virus. Seems interesting how it goes about protecting your computer. Far less processor intensive.

Low market share does have its advantages. =)
(not that Microsoft is all that great to begin with)

"Unix just has strong security". FALSE. Any OS is only as strong as the configuration it's given.
Anectodal evidence is anecdotal
If you don't know all the in's and out's of your .conf files, you can setup an amazingly insecure unix box, and think you're as safe as houses.
CaveBearYea, I guess my Windows machines are all pretty safe from infection these days. Since they crash all the time I mostly leave them turned off. It's hard to infect a machine that is turned off.
And I'm a professional software developer who's shipped millions of Windows products! I write all my software on a Mac and then just port it to windows in the end.
KnivesOutWow, that sounds efficient.>> ^CaveBear:
