Hahaha^ @ gorgonheap! You must have been very inclined to interior design to have been bothered by that at the age of 5. I see what you are saying though. I did very much like the traffic light he had, and I wanted a train to run through my living room, as well.

I love Fred too, but I heard something disturbing recently.

The thought was posited that Mr. Rodgers was responsible for some of the cultural problem we're having now. It stems from the notion that everyone was programmed to think "they are special", leading everyone to feel a sense of innate entitlement. This made me a little sad.

Thylansays...

Lots of things can falsely engender ideas of entitlement, subtle or otherwise. Irrational cultural superiority obsession, and Religion can too. So I see no reason why such things can ever be laid solely at one mans door.

But it isn't healthy and is pervasive.

Hmmm. That sounds suspiciously like the Fox News tripe I've heard, where they had some report that was trying to blame Mister Rogers for what was wrong with our youth. I know it's been sifted, so I'll try to find it. I agree with Thylan that it has to do more with other factors. Not Mister Rogers.

I don't really buy it either. You would think his emphasis on "community" would off-set all that. Fred's done much more good than harm, if he can even be said to have done harm, which I think he hasn't. Let me know if you find that Faux News clip Issykitty.
