President Obama addresses terrorist attacks in Paris 11/15

Nothing like a human catastrophe to get the upvotes, eh?

Evidently there were coordinated attacks on Paris France, on 11/13/2015.
Not much known at the time of this writing.

Some details:
Explosions, possible suicide bombers
Shooting in multiple locations
Hostages held in the Bataclan
Dozens dead :(

To be fair, I'm not yet certain it belongs in the religion channel. I'm sure this will *probably* boil down to that, (because it always does now a days), but it hasn't been mentioned yet and I feel like there's still a chance this could be related to Paris' horrible racism issues which started before this recent round of travesty.

But otherwise I'm in total agreement. Someone should make a religion about love!

Yes lets be all PC about this and give them the benefit of the doubt and some respect on top of that. Of course this "travesty" (what? wasnt it more like mass murder?) may not have anything to do with the fact that the perpetrators were muslims (the self identifying "allahu akbar" shouting type).

Oh and simply killing people one by one without actually having any demands is not what "taking hostages" means. Thats typically how crazy religious sects operate.

This makes me angry and I sure hope we start protecting our European borders better. Lets keep saving only those refugees that ultimately dont turn to wanting to kill us for religious reasons.

Also, back on topic, I dont see any points to be won in this for Obama. None at all.

I posted this video before most news had spread because I heard about it from a friend in Paris. No details had been confirmed at the time, and I said so in the video description. It's not about being PC, it's about not jumping to conclusions like an idiot.

I had dissuaded the religion channel because I could see this being a lashback from Paris' already ongoing immigrant crises. That itself was wrong of me because even if it were the case that it were related to the Syrian War/islamic extremism, this still probably doesn't belong in the religion channel. It's certainly arguable though.

I think the comment on "points" means you think I posted this as some sort of pro-Obama thing, but that wasn't the intention. Just because it was breaking and it was the only related/topical video I could find that wasn't a jumbled mess.

I have nothing against Obama (I dont live over there), he says as little as possible and says it well enough. There is little he can do in this situation and doesnt have much to win or lose. I misunderstood about the upvotes, now I get it - you are apologizing for posting a video related to a horrible incident. I think thats not a problem in this case - you have to try to sneak reality in among the cute kids and puppies - thats why i voted for it.

I understand that timing and information availability is an issue, but by yesterday it was already very clear that this very much belongs in the religion channel. While the motivation of these people may be complicated, its the religious aspect that gives them the moral strength to do horrible deeds. If they just hated someone or wanted something they could demonstrate or throw stones at shop windows and police cars. Frenchmen do that regularly. The only thing these guys seem to specifically want is for us to be as muslim as they are.

Respect needs to go both ways. You have to play hard to get respect.
