Plentitude: a potential new model for the economy?

From the youtube description:
"This fun animation provides a vision of what a post-consumer society could look like, with people working fewer hours and pursuing re-skilling, homesteading, and small-scale enterprises that can help reduce the overall size and impact of the consumer economy."

I'm not convinced that it sufficiently addresses all the issues, but at least someone is finally talking about a new economy that doesn't slavishly adhere to the growth of GDP as the end result.

@ChaosEngine, the video shows it as Plenitude, not Plentitude. Although they both mean abundance.

And from what I recall - France lowered the work week solely to decrease unemployment, not to create happy feelings and sense of community. Can anyone from France comment?

The "growth imperative" is the biggest enemy of humankind's wellbeing and, in the long run, its survivability.
