jonnysays...thievery from Tchaikovsky - obvious, but incredibly well done. all music borrows from what came before, so celebrate it!

siftbotsays...Re-queueing this video for one more try; last queued Sunday, February 3rd, 2008 8:10am PST - requeue requested by submitter Fjnbk.
Sarzysays...Fjnbk, this is the second piece of music you've submitted that was in my film, Fired. That's a weird coincidence (or is it?). Well anyway, it gives me a chance to plug my film, which is good, because I have no shame.
Kruposays...jonny, I assume that was a sly joke rather than a slight against poor Modest, yes?
Modest and Pyotr were alive at roughly the same time. Similar yes, thievery? Only as much as the Strokes steal from Radiohead or some other even more nonsenical claim.
More reading.

Ivegotthebendssays...The highly emotive conducting makes this even more fun to listen to. He could kick my former orchestra conductors ass in a conducting competition at the county fair...in Colorado.
jonnysays...heh - no Krupo, I was just demonstrating my lack of knowledge of classical composers. I didn't realize they were contemporaries, thought Mussorgsky came a bit later. I was just hearing the sharing of riffs with the 1812 Overture and credited Tchaikovsky. Thanks for the links.
